Day 1.
The group will be greeted and welcomed by the tour operator representatives and the tour guide at the Otopeni Airport with bred and salt, as our ancestors used to show their greet to the visitors. After the long flight hours, the bus will shortly take you to hotel Best Western Park*** in Bucharest (http://www.bestwestern.com , where you will have time to rest and appreciate the comfort of this cosy hotel. Dinner served at the hotels’ restaurant.
Day 2.
Breakfast in the morning, then the tour guide will have a meeting with the group: the schedule and a short description of the tour will be the main topics, but also giving you the basic information required for the next 2 weeks that you will be visiting Romania.
Departure from Bucharest towards Prahova Valley: shortly the group will be approaching the mountains area, and there the resorts are the best week-end destination for those who live in Bucharest. First stop in Sinaia for visiting the Peles Castle, which used to be summer residence of the Romanian royal family. Lunch in a nice restaurant in Sinaia, then the group continues its way crossing the beautifull mountain landscapes. On the other side of the Carpatians the medieval city of Brasov will be the perfect place for the overnight. Check in at hotel Aro*** (http://www.romania-hotel.com/aro_palace_hotel_brasov.html) , then the group is invited to a walking visit downtown Brasov: the main attraction is the “Black Church”, a large gothic architecture cathedral. Dinner served in a selected local restaurant.

Day 3.
After breakfast the tourists will go for visiting Bran, where the medieval castle which belong to prince Vlad Tepes (source of insipiration to Bram Stoker for its wellknown fiction volume called “Drakula”) is best located in a pass over the mountains. Visit to the castle, then return to Brasov, where the option is either to go by cable car to Peak Timpa for a view over the city, or to go Poiana Brasov, where the cable car will take you up to Peak Postavaru.
Lunch served in a selected Romanian traditional restaurant.
The afteroon will take the tour further on: passing through Miercurea Ciuc and Gheorgheni, areas inhabited by ethnic Hungarian population, with their own cultural heritage, the destination for the night will be Lacul Rosu ( Red Lake) , a beautiful mountain resort by this lake. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4.
Good morning! The fresh mountain air will surely make you feel good, so all you need is to have breakfast before continuing the travel. The Red Lake used to be a valley that was flooded when a mountain colapsed over a small river: it formed a natural dam and nowadays you can still see the forests under water! The group will move on to cross the most beatiful and spectacular gorges in Romania: the Bicaz Gorges. At the other end of the mountains there is Lake Izvorul Muntelui, on which the tourists might have a nice cruise by boat. Lunch in a nice Romanian traditional restaurant in Piatra Neamt, then the group will continue through Bacau to Suceava, the old capital of the medieval Moldavia, where is planned dinner and overnight. Day 5.
After breakfast a visit downtown Suceava will also include the ruins of the old castle. This day will be dedicated to visiting the famous UNESCO heritage monasteries in Norhtern Moldavia: Voronet, with its spectacular blue paintings on the exterior walls, and Humor, for the beginning. Lunch at the restaurant of the hotel Best Western*** Bucovina ( http://www.bestwestern.com) , then visits at the other of the amazing monasteries: Moldovita and Sucevita also have very old and appreciated paintings, while Putna is the burial place of the greatest rulers Moldavia ever had: Stephen the Great. For the evening return to Best Western*** Bucovina in Humor, dinner and overninght.

Day 6.
First thing is breakfast at the hotel, then the group will leave Moldavia for another old Romanian province: Maramures. Crossing the mountains towards west, the first stop will be in Borsa for serving lunch. Then the tourists will have the best chance to get into direct contact with the Romanian countryside, very spectacular and well preserved over the centuries: here the people are hard working and have an optmist way of accepting life, this is why they have colourfull traditional costumes, fast and cheerful songs and dances, and also a specific plum brandy they call “horinca”. Exceptionaly beautifuly ornated wooden-gates are specific to the households in this area, also wooden churches that are sometimes as old as the 13th century and very high towers. Visit to all this attractions on Iza Valley, then transfer to Baia Mare, dinner and accommodation at hotel Carpati****. (http://www.hotelcarpati.ro)

Day 7.
Breakfast is first, then short tour downtown Baia mare and reurn to Sighetul Marmatiei: visit to a fascinating trace of the communist era: the Prison Museum, which was saddly an extermination center for the Romanian democrat political leaders after the second World War. The next stop will be in Sapinta, one of the only places in the world with a Merry Cemetery: here the grave stones have carved on them humorous paintings and short stories about the one who was burried there. Again, this is a bright way of accepting death, result of the merry spirit of the inhabitants! Lunch in Satu Mare, then across the Western Plain till Oradea and Felix resort. This resort is well known since the Roman Empire because of the thermal water springs, but nowadays the tourism demand resulted in building of several large hotels, some of them having well equiped health centers, because the thermal waters are also used for treating various health problems.

Day 8.
Breakfast at the hotel, then departure for a trip to the famous Bears Cave. They have discovered here the scheletons of an extinct species of bear that lived thousands of years ago! Return for lunch to Felix, then afernoon dedicated to rest or swimming in the pools.

Day 9.
It is time to carry on with the journey: after breakfast departure to Cluj. Stops on the way for visiting Izvorul Crisului, a village where the inhabintants have specialised in handicrafts for tourists: their shops are lined-up on both sides of the street from one end of the village to the other!
Arrival to Cluj-Napoca and lunch at a selected Romanian traditional restaurant.
The afternoon is dedicated to group visiting downtown and for time at the travelers’ choice.

Day 10.
From this very heart city of Transylvania, the group will follow the journey, leaving after breakfast. Stop for visiting the Salt Mines in Turda, which were exploited since the Roman Empire. Lunch in a cosy restaurant in Turda ( “Printul Vinator”), then crossing and having a short visit downtown Tirgu Mures, we will reach for the evening the medieval city of Sighisoara. Here the group will have the chance to spend the night in a perfectly preserved medieval city, which once a year hosts a famous medieval arts festival. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Sighisoara***. Day 11.
This was the last day in Transylvania, we will cross again the mountains to the southern Romanian province of Muntenia. Departure from Sighisoara heading for Sibiu. The group will visit in Sibiu the largest art museum in Romania ( Brueckental Museum) and will have lunch in a selected restaurant downtown ( “Sibiul Vechi”). In the afternoon continuing to Calimanesti, a nice resort hidden in a mountain crossing. The Olt river gets through the Carpatian mountains, creating spectacular sceneries for those who follow. Day 12.
After breakfast departure to Bucharest. Stop for lunch in Pitesti, then arrival to Bucharest in the afternoon. Check-in at hotel Best Western*** Parc ( http://www.bestwestern.ro) , then dinner and accommodation.

Day 13.
This day is dedicated to visiting the capital of Romania, Bucharest. Breakfast served at the hotel then guided city tour downtown. After the city tour lunch offered in a selected restaurant downtown, then the afternoon is left at the tourists’ choice: private visits, shopping, etc.
Good-bye dinner offered at hotel Best Western*** Parc, where the tour guide and agency representatives will thank you for joining us in the visit and offer you gifts that will remind you of the wonderful tour you took in Romania. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 14.
Breakfast, then the bus and the tour guide will take you to the airport and offer all the assistance for the check-in formalities. We wish you to have a nice fly and hope to see you back again !
